A Childhood That Shaped Everything
To understand Rajissimo, you have to go back to the early 1980s.
Founder Nader Rajja grew up in Copenhagen under extremely difficult circumstances. Coming from a family of five children, with a father who passed away too early and a mother navigating a new country without language or system knowledge, life was defined by hardship.
There was no bathroom at home. Food was never guaranteed. Toys were found, not bought. From a young age, Nader spent long days collecting bottles just to help put food on the table.
The Ice Cream That Changed a Life
One day, after selling his most treasured toy, a small yellow race car, a kind stranger gave him far more than it was worth. With that money, his mother took him out for what became his first-ever ice cream.
That moment, the taste, the pride in his mother’s eyes, and the feeling of joy, planted a seed that would later become Rajissimo.
It wasn’t just ice cream.
It was hope.
Learning Through Hard Work, Not Shortcuts
At just 14 years old, Nader began working in an ice cream shop. He wasn’t allowed to serve customers, so he cleaned, washed dishes, and worked harder than anyone else.
For more than 18 years, he worked up to 17 hours a day, over 500 hours a month, without sick days, holidays, or days off. Birthdays, celebrations, and milestones were spent working, always with one goal in mind.
To build something of his own.
A Mother’s Dream, Fulfilled
Nader’s mother always believed her son would one day open his own ice cream shop in Nyhavn, a dream he thought was impossible.
In 2011, after her passing, that dream became reality. On his birthday, Nader signed the lease for Rajissimo Nyhavn 19, a moment he still considers his mother’s final gift.
Although Rajissimo began in 2006, Nyhavn marked the turning point. It was where innovation flourished, concepts were refined, and Rajissimo truly became what it is today.
